Works have started on the development of 980 homes, a public park and a women’s centre on the site of the former Holloway Prison with Cuttings being employed to provide the Lightning Protection Systems.
The North London scheme, which is being developed by Peabody, will be 60 per cent affordable housing and include hundreds of social rented homes for families and elderly.
It will also have a 1,400m2 women’s centre, operated with Islington Council and offer support services, as well as parks and private gardens around the estate.
Peabody said the scheme would be ‘car-free’ and promote walking, cycling and exercise through the landscape – which has been designed by Exterior Architecture.
